The correct First Horizon login depends on whether you already use Digital Banking, need first-time enrollment, manage a business account, or are returning to a mortgage application. This independent guide is not affiliated with First Horizon Bank and cannot access or change customer accounts.
Start at the bank’s main website and select Log in. Do that first; skip recovery until the screen matches the account or application you are trying to reach.
What First Horizon is
First Horizon Bank is a U.S. financial institution offering personal, small-business, commercial, mortgage, trust, wealth-management, and related financial services. Its personal login page identifies First Horizon Bank as a Member FDIC and separates banking access from other financial-service platforms.
A search for “First Horizon” can therefore lead to several legitimate destinations.
That is the first friction.
Match the screen to your account
The standard personal login page shows a service selector followed by User ID, Password, Login, Enroll for access, and Forgot ID or password. The dedicated Digital Banking screen displays Enter User ID, Enter Password, Show, and Forgot User ID/Password.
Other First Horizon services do not necessarily use that same profile.
| Screen or task | Likely access route |
|---|---|
| User ID and Enroll for access | Personal Digital Banking |
| Small-business banking or reporting | Small Business login |
| Email and Trouble signing in? | Mortgage application portal |
| Protected customer-service form | Existing Digital Banking profile |
| New online access for a bank account | Digital Banking enrollment |
| Existing profile no longer accessible | Forgot ID or password |
The Small Business login page is specifically described as the entry point for small-business Digital Banking and business reporting services. It should not be treated as a cosmetic copy of the personal page.
The mortgage application portal is more visibly different. It uses Email, Password, Trouble signing in?, and Sign in, and it is intended for viewing an application’s status or completing loan-related next steps.
Read the fields.
A customer who normally enters a Digital Banking User ID may open the mortgage portal and assume the bank has changed the login process. The reverse mistake is possible too: a mortgage applicant may enter an email address into a banking page that expects a separate User ID.
Existing customer does not always mean enrolled user
Having a First Horizon account does not automatically mean that a Digital Banking profile has already been established.
First Horizon provides Enroll for access for customers adding Digital and Mobile Banking to an eligible account. The bank says the enrollment process is completed in about five minutes and directs customers who need assistance to its published customer-service number or a branch.
Choose enrollment when you have never created a Digital Banking User ID.
Choose Forgot ID or password when you have previously used the online profile but can no longer enter it. First Horizon’s recovery service separates customers who need enrollment from customers recovering an existing personal or business profile.
These paths solve different problems:
- Bank account exists, but no digital profile was created: enroll.
- Digital Banking worked previously: recover the existing profile.
- Mortgage application was created separately: use the mortgage portal.
- A business uses another First Horizon service: open its assigned login.
- A customer-service form requests authentication: use Digital Banking or the alternate support route shown by the bank.
Priority one: establish whether the profile ever worked. Skip a second enrollment when an existing User ID merely needs recovery.
Enrollment is also not the same as opening a new checking account. First Horizon maintains a separate account-application process with its own eligibility and application requirements.
Recover the User ID before changing everything else
First Horizon provides Forgot ID or password beneath its Digital Banking login form. Its bank-hosted online and mobile demonstrations are specifically labeled Forgot User ID or Password and are intended to show customers how to regain access.
Use the recovery route reached through First Horizon itself.
Do not change several things together. A password reset, browser cleanup, app reinstall, and second enrollment performed in the same session make it difficult to identify the actual problem and may leave the customer uncertain about which credential is current.
Use this order:
- Confirm personal or business Digital Banking.
- Confirm that the profile existed previously.
- Select Forgot User ID/Password.
- Complete the bank’s recovery process.
- Open a fresh login session.
A password change cannot fix the wrong User ID. Likewise, a valid Digital Banking profile will not necessarily open a mortgage, investment, trust, or corporate platform.
Recover narrowly.
Why a service request asks for another login
Some First Horizon customer-service requests are protected by an authentication page titled Before you continue.
That screen says the online form is for customers and asks them to sign in with their Digital Banking Username and Password. Empty fields trigger Please enter a value for Username and Please enter a value for Password. Customers without Digital Banking credentials are directed to visit a branch or call the bank.
This page can appear after someone has already selected a service request, which makes it feel like a second unrelated account.
It is not necessarily another registration. The bank is using the existing Digital Banking profile to protect the customer request.
First Horizon’s customer-service section includes questions and comments, transaction disputes, transfer-related requests, and other account tasks. Some routes require authentication before the request can be submitted.
Do this first: identify the request. Skip trying mortgage or investment credentials on a Digital Banking-protected form.
Website login versus mobile app
The dedicated First Horizon Digital Banking page requires a User ID and password. The bank’s mobile application is listed for both personal and small-business customers and includes balance viewing, mobile check deposit, bill payment, transfers, budgeting, spending tracking, and account alerts.
That gives users a useful comparison.
- Website and app both fail: examine the Digital Banking profile or recovery route.
- Website works but the app fails: examine the current application and stored mobile session.
- App works but a browser page fails: reopen the bank from its main domain.
- Personal access works but business access does not: verify the selected service.
- Login works but one feature is unavailable: check the account’s product access rather than resetting the profile.
Do not reinstall first. Confirm whether the credentials work through either approved access route, then isolate the device or service that remains affected.
Mobile functions can vary according to account eligibility, device capability, and the particular services established for the customer. First Horizon describes Digital Banking as supporting money movement, bill payment, and account management, but access to a specific feature should not be assumed for every account.
When the site itself may be unavailable
A login failure is not always caused by the profile.
First Horizon has published maintenance notices stating that Digital Banking, Phone Banking, and First Horizon ATMs may be temporarily offline during scheduled system work. A July 2026 notice, for example, announced a maintenance window beginning at 11:00 p.m. Central Time.
Check scope before starting recovery:
- Does the public First Horizon website open?
- Does Digital Banking open on another current browser?
- Does the mobile application reach its login screen?
- Are other users reporting the same issue?
- Does the problem affect banking plus other First Horizon channels?
One failed browser session may point to a local problem. Several First Horizon channels failing together may indicate maintenance or a wider service issue.
Wait for the published window to end when maintenance is confirmed. Skip repeated resets during that period.
Maintenance schedules and effects can vary by date and region, so rely on the bank’s current communication rather than an old outage post.
Secure support after login
Customers who can still access Digital Banking have a bank-provided route for account-specific questions.
First Horizon instructs enrolled customers to select the Messages icon, open the Secure Messages tab, and choose Send Us a Secure Message. The bank describes secure messaging as the channel for account-specific questions and inquiries.
That is different from the public questions-and-comments form.
Use secure messaging when the question concerns an account and the customer can sign in. Use the bank’s public support route when Digital Banking is inaccessible.
First Horizon publishes 800-382-5465 on its enrollment, contact, support, and login-protected service pages. Its location page also allows customers to search for branches and ATMs by location or ZIP code.
When describing a login issue, name the last successful step:
- The service selector loaded.
- The User ID field appeared.
- Forgot User ID/Password opened.
- Personal or business selection appeared.
- The Before you continue page blocked the request.
- The website worked, but the app did not.
Specific details help support identify the correct system without receiving confidential authentication information.
Suspicious alerts change the response
An unexpected email alert, push notification, or one-time passcode should not be treated as an ordinary forgotten-password problem.
First Horizon advises customers who identify potentially suspicious activity, including an alert or passcode generated without their action, to change their User ID and password immediately. It gives the same instruction after fraudulent activity involving online access has been reported.
Stop interacting with the unexpected message.
Return to First Horizon using the bank’s established website or your own trusted contact information. Do not approve an action you did not begin, and do not rely on a phone number contained only in the suspicious communication.
The bank’s support section provides fraud-protection materials, banking FAQs, customer-service requests, and published contact routes.
Security takes priority. Skip ordinary browser troubleshooting when unauthorized activity is already visible.
Banking login and FDIC coverage are separate questions
First Horizon’s login page displays the FDIC-insured designation for its banking products and services. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation covers eligible deposit products according to applicable limits and ownership categories.
A First Horizon login menu may also contain investment, trust, and wealth-related services. The presence of those services beside Digital Banking does not make every linked product an insured bank deposit.
Read the disclosure attached to the exact account.
This distinction matters when a customer selects a service from the login menu and leaves the ordinary personal banking environment.
Frequently asked questions
Where should I start a First Horizon login?
Use the bank’s main website and select Log in.
What if I have a bank account but no User ID?
Choose Enroll for access.
Is enrollment the same as opening a checking account?
No. Enrollment establishes Digital Banking access for an eligible existing relationship, while First Horizon uses a separate process for new account applications.
Why does the mortgage page ask for an email?
The mortgage application portal is a separate First Horizon system. It uses Email, Password, Trouble signing in?, and Sign in, while personal Digital Banking uses a User ID.
Can personal and small-business customers use the mobile app?
Yes. First Horizon’s app listings state that the mobile application is available for personal and small-business customers.
Why did a support form ask me to log in again?
Some customer-service requests are protected by Digital Banking authentication. The Before you continue page asks for an existing Digital Banking username and password and directs customers without those credentials to a branch or the published support number.
What should I do if both the app and website stop working?
Check for a current First Horizon maintenance notice or broader service communication before repeatedly changing the account credentials. The bank has announced temporary outages affecting Digital Banking and other channels during scheduled maintenance.
How do I ask an account-specific question securely?
After signing in, select Messages, open Secure Messages, and choose Send Us a Secure Message.
