Start a First Horizon login at firsthorizon.com, select Log in, and choose the personal or Small Business banking service tied to your account. This independent guide is not affiliated with First Horizon Bank and cannot access, recover, or modify customer accounts.
A customer who enters Digital Banking but cannot locate a debit-card control usually has a post-login navigation or eligibility question, not a failed password. Check whether the dashboard opens first. Skip account recovery when authentication has already succeeded.
What First Horizon is
First Horizon Bank is a U.S. financial institution offering personal, Small Business, commercial, mortgage, trust, and related financial services. Its personal login page provides access to banking and investment-service options and identifies eligible banking products as FDIC-insured.
The search term “First Horizon” may represent several different card-related tasks:
- Enter Digital Banking
- Turn a debit card off temporarily
- Turn a card back on
- Replace a damaged card
- Report a card as lost or stolen
- Report fraudulent card activity
- Recover an existing Digital Banking profile
These tasks can begin on similar First Horizon pages, but they do not end in the same place.
Confirm whether the login failed
The direct Digital Banking page displays Enter User ID, Enter Password, Show, and Forgot User ID/Password. When a field is incomplete, the page can show We still need your User ID or We still need your Password.
Use the last successful screen as a guide:
| What happens | More relevant action |
|---|---|
| The established profile is rejected | Use Digital Banking recovery |
| No User ID was ever created | Choose enrollment |
| The dashboard opens, but Card Controls are missing | Check the selected card and service |
| A card is temporarily misplaced | Turn it off through Digital or Mobile Banking |
| A card is confirmed lost or stolen | Contact First Horizon immediately |
| Fraudulent card activity is visible | Use the urgent fraud-reporting route |
| A replacement form asks for another login | Use the protected Digital Banking authentication |
Do this first: determine whether the Digital Banking dashboard opens. Skip password changes when the problem begins after successful entry.
A required-field message does not state that the banking profile is locked. It means the named field still needs an entry.
Find Card Controls after login
First Horizon says its Visa debit card includes controls in Digital or Mobile Banking that allow customers to turn the card off or on quickly to help limit or prevent unauthorized use.
The bank’s Digital Banking user guide also identifies Card Controls as a post-login area for managing cards.
That distinction matters. The control becomes relevant after the customer has authenticated successfully.
Check these points:
- Is the correct personal or Small Business profile open?
- Does the expected debit card appear?
- Is the card attached to the account shown in the dashboard?
- Is the website or mobile application being used?
- Is the card merely misplaced, or is it confirmed lost?
- Is unauthorized activity already visible?
Priority one: classify the situation. Skip treating a temporary card control as a complete replacement for reporting a confirmed loss or theft.
Turning a card off can help limit use while the customer investigates. It does not necessarily complete every step required when a card has been stolen, compromised, or permanently lost.
Turning a card off is not the same as canceling it
First Horizon specifically tells customers with lost or stolen cards to report them immediately by calling Client Services at 800-382-5465 or visiting a local branch. The bank also says customers can log in to Digital Banking and turn the card off to help limit or prevent unauthorized use.
These actions serve different purposes.
Turning the card off is a digital control that may be useful when:
- The card may be somewhere nearby.
- The customer wants to prevent new use while searching.
- Suspicious activity is being reviewed.
- Immediate temporary control is needed before speaking with the bank.
Reporting the card lost or stolen is the appropriate route when:
- The customer knows the card is gone.
- Another person may possess it.
- The card cannot be recovered safely.
- Fraudulent use is visible.
- A replacement card is needed.
Do the temporary control first when it is immediately available, then follow First Horizon’s reporting instructions for a confirmed loss or theft.
Skip assuming that an off setting permanently closes the card or automatically orders a replacement.
Use the replacement request for the correct situation
First Horizon maintains an online customer-service request for replacing a debit card. The request is protected and requires the customer to sign in using an existing Digital Banking username and password. Customers without Digital Banking credentials are directed to visit a branch or call 800-382-5465.
The protected screen displays:
- Username
- Password
- Please enter a value for Username
- Please enter a value for Password
Those validation messages mean the required fields remain incomplete. They do not establish that a completed banking profile was rejected.
Use the replacement request when the customer needs another physical debit card and the situation does not require a faster fraud response.
Do not rely on the ordinary online request for urgent fraudulent use. First Horizon’s general FAQ publishes a separate 24-hour number, 877-242-9895, for reporting fraudulent card use so the card can be blocked.
Priority two: choose the route according to urgency. Skip a routine form when immediate fraud assistance is required.
What to do when a card is only misplaced
A card that may still be in the customer’s possession creates a narrower decision.
A practical sequence is:
- Log in through First Horizon’s main website or mobile app.
- Open the card-management area.
- Turn the affected card off.
- Check recent account activity.
- Search for the card without leaving it active.
- Turn it back on only after confirming it is secure.
First Horizon advertises the ability to turn eligible debit cards off and on through Digital or Mobile Banking.
Do not reactivate a card simply because no unfamiliar transaction has appeared yet. Confirm that the physical card is back under the customer’s control.
If it cannot be found, move from the temporary-control workflow to the bank’s lost-card reporting process.
Short delay. Different risk.
Compare website and mobile access
First Horizon says existing Digital Banking customers are automatically enrolled for Mobile Banking and should use their current Digital Banking credentials. Access is available through the downloadable app or a mobile web browser.
The current mobile app is offered to personal and Small Business customers. Its published functions include viewing balances, depositing checks, paying bills, transferring money, managing budgets, tracking spending, and setting alerts.
Use the two channels diagnostically:
- Website and app both reject the profile: use recovery.
- Website works but the app fails: inspect the app or device session.
- App works but the website fails: reopen First Horizon from its main domain.
- One channel shows the card and another does not: verify the selected profile and card list.
- Card Controls appear, but the physical card is stolen: contact the bank anyway.
- Personal access works but a business card is absent: open the appropriate Small Business profile.
Do not reinstall first. Confirm whether the same Digital Banking profile and card appear through another bank-provided channel, then isolate the failing environment.
Feature availability can depend on the account, card, customer profile, and service.
Distinguish card fraud from an ordinary login problem
First Horizon’s Fraud and Unauthorized Transaction FAQ says that when a card is lost or stolen, customers should call 800-382-5465 immediately. It states that the bank may freeze the account to prevent further unauthorized activity, open an investigation, close the card, and issue a new one.
The general banking FAQ separately lists 877-242-9895 as a 24-hour contact for fraudulent card use.
Stop ordinary login troubleshooting when:
- A transaction was not authorized.
- The card is in another person’s possession.
- An unexpected card alert appears.
- The customer receives an unrequested one-time code.
- A caller or message asks for login credentials or security answers.
First Horizon currently warns about phishing text messages that attempt to persuade customers to reset security answers so the information can be intercepted and used for account takeover.
Do not follow the link inside that message. Open First Horizon manually or use contact information obtained from an established bank source.
Security comes first. Browser testing can wait.
Use alerts as an early-warning tool
First Horizon provides customized alerts through Digital and Mobile Banking. Customers can manage ordinary alert preferences through Settings – Manage Alerts, where they can add, change, or remove a mobile device connected to those preferences.
Alerts can help identify:
- Account activity
- Payment activity
- Balance changes
- A device or contact-setting issue
- Activity the customer does not recognize
An alert is a signal to review the authenticated banking record. It is not a reason to log in through a link contained only in the alert itself.
First Horizon says customers who receive an alert in error can call 800-382-5465.
Check the account from a known bank route. Skip approving or responding to an unexpected request before confirming the activity.
Enrollment and recovery remain separate
Use Enroll for access when Digital Banking has never been created for the eligible banking relationship. Use Forgot User ID/Password when an established profile worked previously but can no longer be accessed. First Horizon displays both routes through its main banking login environment.
Use this decision:
- Never had a User ID: enroll.
- Had a working profile: recover it.
- Can enter but cannot see the card: check the selected profile or card list.
- Can see the card but Card Controls are unavailable: contact First Horizon about the card or service.
- Card is confirmed stolen: report it immediately.
- Fraudulent activity is visible: use the urgent fraud route.
Enrollment will not replace a stolen card. Password recovery will not automatically dispute an unauthorized transaction.
Solve the correct layer.
Why the public form is not for urgent card problems
First Horizon’s Questions & Comments form says correspondence is generally answered within one to two business days. It directs customers to call 800-382-5465 for faster service and specifically identifies lost or stolen cards and fraudulent transactions as issues requiring immediate attention.
Use the public form for routine questions, not urgent card security.
The better route depends on the event:
- Damaged card with no suspicious activity: replacement request
- Misplaced card: turn it off while searching
- Confirmed lost or stolen card: Client Services or a branch
- Fraudulent use: 24-hour card-fraud contact
- Login profile rejected: Digital Banking recovery
- Account-specific question while signed in: secure banking support
When reporting a problem, state the card type, whether it remains in your possession, when it was last used, whether unfamiliar activity appears, and whether the Digital Banking profile still works.
Keep passwords, full card numbers, PINs, and verification codes out of ordinary messages.
FDIC status and card disputes are different protections
First Horizon identifies eligible banking products as provided by First Horizon Bank, Member FDIC.
FDIC insurance concerns eligible deposits when an insured bank fails. It is not the process used to resolve an individual unauthorized debit-card transaction, replace a lost card, or restore a Digital Banking password.
Card disputes and fraud reports follow First Horizon’s account and card procedures.
Read the disclosure and use the correct support route for the actual problem.
