Start a First Horizon login at firsthorizon.com, select Log in, and choose the banking service tied to your account. A first successful login may include security questions, contact-method setup, terms acceptance, and a device-recognition choice, so an extra screen does not necessarily mean access failed.
This independent guide is not affiliated with First Horizon Bank and cannot access or modify customer accounts.
What First Horizon is
First Horizon Bank is a U.S. financial institution serving personal, small-business, commercial, mortgage, trust, and wealth clients. Its personal and business login pages identify banking products and services as provided by First Horizon Bank, Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender.
The search term “First Horizon” often represents a specific access job: signing in for the first time, recovering an existing profile, using Mobile Banking, or returning after logout.
Each has a different next step.
Start on the page for your banking service
First Horizon’s personal login page includes a banking-service selector, User ID, Password, Login, Enroll for access, and Forgot ID or password. The Small Business page uses similar controls but is intended for business banking services. Corporate customers receive another login page with its own service selector.
| Situation | Starting action |
|---|---|
| Personal banking customer | Select Personal Digital Banking |
| Small-business customer | Use the Small Business login |
| Corporate or treasury user | Select the assigned corporate service |
| Never created Digital Banking access | Choose Enroll for access |
| Existing profile no longer accessible | Choose Forgot ID or password |
| Signed out after a completed session | Return through the main login |
Do this first: confirm the customer category. Skip password recovery until the selected service matches the profile.
The fields may look alike, but similar wording does not make the profiles interchangeable. A personal User ID should not automatically be treated as the credential for a corporate, trust, investment, or specialized business system.
What happens on the initial Digital Banking login?
First Horizon’s current Digital Banking user guide says an initial online login can include several setup actions. Customers may be asked to answer four questions used later for authentication, read and accept the Terms of Service, establish contact information for security verification, and review their regular contact details.
That is more than a normal return visit.
The extra prompts serve a setup purpose:
- Security questions help with later authentication.
- Contact methods are used when enhanced security is required.
- Terms acceptance establishes use of the Digital Banking service.
- Profile review helps keep ordinary contact information current.
- Device recognition can reduce repeated security challenges on a trusted device.
Do not close the process merely because the account dashboard did not appear immediately. Complete the bank’s setup screens in order.
Priority one: finish the initial security setup. Skip opening another enrollment session while the first profile is already being configured.
Use “Remember This Device” carefully
First Horizon’s Digital Banking guide describes a Remember This Device option. When selected, it can allow the customer to bypass a security challenge question on future logins from the same computer or device. The guide specifically says not to select it on a shared computer.
That is a concrete choice, not a decorative checkbox.
A private device used only by the customer may be an appropriate place for the option. A public, workplace-shared, family-shared, or borrowed computer is not.
Do this first: decide who controls the device. Skip Remember This Device whenever another person can use the same browser profile.
The option does not eliminate every form of security verification. First Horizon may still require additional authentication when risk conditions, device state, or account activity call for it. The exact experience can vary by account and device.
Small checkbox. Real consequence.
Enroll only when no User ID exists
First Horizon maintains a separate enrollment route for customers who have an eligible banking relationship but have not created Digital Banking access. The bank’s enrollment page introduces the process as adding Digital and Mobile Banking to an account.
Recovery solves another problem.
First Horizon’s Forgot User ID Or Password page tells customers who do not have a User ID to enroll, while existing users use the recovery process.
Use the distinction:
- Never signed in and never created a User ID: enroll.
- Signed in previously but forgot the User ID: recover.
- Know the User ID but cannot use the password: recover.
- First login is showing security setup: complete setup.
- Logged out normally: return through the main login.
Enrollment is not the same as opening a new bank account. It adds digital access to an eligible existing relationship.
Determine whether the profile existed first. Skip duplicate enrollment when an established Digital Banking profile needs recovery.
Recover an existing First Horizon profile
First Horizon publishes bank-hosted Forgot User ID or Password demonstrations for both online and mobile customers. It also provides a separate Small Business recovery demonstration.
Use the recovery control reached from First Horizon’s own login page.
A controlled order works best:
- Confirm whether the profile is personal or Small Business.
- Confirm that Digital Banking worked previously.
- Select Forgot ID or password.
- Complete the bank’s recovery flow.
- Return through a fresh login page.
- Finish any security setup that appears.
Do not combine recovery with a second enrollment, app reinstallation, browser-data deletion, and business-permission changes. Altering every variable together makes it difficult to determine which profile was restored and which login information is current.
Recover one profile at a time.
First Horizon’s online and mobile demo pages also link to related tasks such as updating profile security, adding alerts, paying bills, and making transfers. Those functions belong after access has been restored.
What the logout page means
First Horizon has a dedicated confirmation page headed You are now logged out. It tells customers that they can log back in by entering their User ID again or choosing another account from the available dropdown.
That page confirms the prior session ended.
It does not mean the Digital Banking profile was deleted, suspended, or unenrolled. Opening recovery immediately after a normal logout is unnecessary unless the customer no longer knows the established login information.
Close the browser when using a shared or public computer. On a private device, return through First Horizon’s main site when another session is needed.
Do this first: distinguish logout from lockout. Skip account recovery when the bank is only confirming that the session ended.
Compare online and mobile access
First Horizon describes Digital Banking as including both online and mobile banking. Its service page lists account viewing, transfers, bill payment, recipients, and alerts across the supported channels.
The bank’s mobile page directs customers to download the First Horizon Mobile Banking app through its published app-store controls. It highlights account access, alerts, budgeting, savings goals, external-account visibility, and money movement. Mobile messaging and data rates may apply.
The comparison between channels can narrow the problem:
- Online and mobile both fail: inspect the Digital Banking profile or recovery route.
- Online works but mobile fails: inspect the app, device authentication, or stored mobile session.
- Mobile works but online fails: restart from the main First Horizon site.
- Initial online setup remains incomplete: finish the security questions and contact-method steps.
- Login works but one function is missing: review account or service eligibility.
First Horizon’s Mobile Deposit page says a customer is asked to authenticate the mobile device on the first login. That device step is separate from simply knowing the profile information.
Do not reinstall first. Verify whether the profile works through another bank-provided channel, then isolate the device or application issue.
Small Business users may face a permissions issue
First Horizon describes Small Business Digital Banking as supporting account management, user entitlements, payments, and payments to associates.
That creates two separate problems:
- The user cannot sign in.
- The user signs in but cannot access a business account or function.
Use recovery for the first problem. For the second, review the organization’s user-entitlement setup through the appropriate business channel.
A working login does not guarantee permission for every business payment or account. Missing access to one function does not prove that the entire profile has failed.
Check the dashboard first. Skip password changes when the user has already entered Digital Banking successfully.
First Horizon’s Small Business help area includes resources for updating profile security, adding authorized users, account alerts, and eStatements.
Do not place urgent account issues in the public form
First Horizon’s public questions-and-comments form says routine correspondence is generally answered within one to two business days. It directs customers to call 800-382-5465 for faster service and says immediate matters such as lost items, identity theft, or fraudulent transactions should not be handled through the ordinary form.
The form also directs enrolled Digital Banking customers with account-specific questions to sign in and send a secure message.
Use the appropriate route:
- Routine general question: public form.
- Account-specific question while signed in: secure messaging.
- Digital Banking recovery: bank-hosted recovery.
- Lost banking item or suspected fraud: call through the published route.
- No Digital Banking access: customer service or a branch.
First Horizon’s protected service forms can display Before you continue, followed by Username, Password, Please enter a value for Username, and Please enter a value for Password. Customers without Digital Banking credentials are directed to a branch or 800-382-5465.
That screen is an authentication checkpoint for the selected form, not necessarily another account.
Treat suspicious activity separately
First Horizon directs customers to contact Client Services at 800-382-5465 or visit a branch to report confirmed fraud or suspicious account activity. It also tells customers who suspect a fraudulent email or text appearing to come from First Horizon not to submit personal information and to forward the message to phishing@firsthorizon.com.
Stop routine troubleshooting when unfamiliar account activity appears.
Do not approve an action you did not initiate or return to the bank through a link contained only in the unexpected communication. Open First Horizon manually or use a contact route already established through the bank.
For suspected fraudulent card use, First Horizon publishes 877-242-9895 as a 24-hour contact so the card can be blocked.
Security takes priority. Skip browser cleanup while unauthorized activity is being evaluated.
FDIC coverage depends on the product
First Horizon’s personal and Small Business login pages display the FDIC-insured designation for eligible banking products.
The login selector can also lead to trust, investment, and wealth-related services. Those services may carry separate disclosures and protections.
Read the selected product name.
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation coverage applies to eligible deposits according to applicable rules and ownership categories. Service availability and protections can vary by account and region.
Frequently asked questions
Where should I start a First Horizon login?
Start at firsthorizon.com.
Why am I seeing security questions?
They may be part of initial setup.
Should I select “Remember This Device”?
Only on a device you control. First Horizon says the option can bypass a future security challenge on the same device and specifically warns customers not to select it on a shared computer.
What if I never created a User ID?
Choose Enroll for access rather than recovery. First Horizon separates customers without a User ID from established users who need Forgot User ID Or Password.
Does “You are now logged out” mean my profile was removed?
No. It confirms that the session ended and provides a route to log back in or select another account.
Why does the mobile app ask about my device?
First Horizon says the first Mobile Deposit login includes authentication of the mobile device being used. Device recognition can therefore be part of mobile access in addition to the customer’s established Digital Banking profile.
Why can I sign in but not access a business feature?
Small Business Digital Banking can use user entitlements for accounts and payment functions. A permissions issue may remain after the main login succeeds.
How fast does the public contact form receive a response?
First Horizon says one to two business days. Urgent issues should use the faster contact route identified by the bank.
