Tell a First Horizon Access Error From a Service Outage

A First Horizon login problem should be diagnosed by the last page that worked. Start at firsthorizon.com, select Log in, and check whether you see the normal Digital Banking fields, a maintenance notice, or an account-recovery screen. This independent guide is not affiliated with First Horizon Bank.

Check the page first. Skip repeated recovery attempts when the banking service is temporarily unavailable or the form is merely showing a missing-field message.

What First Horizon is

First Horizon Bank is a U.S. financial institution providing personal, small-business, corporate, mortgage, trust, and related financial services. Its login pages identify banking products and services as provided by First Horizon Bank, Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender.

The phrase “First Horizon login” can refer to several access systems. Personal Digital Banking, Small Business Digital Banking, corporate services, protected customer forms, and mortgage applications are not necessarily reached with the same profile.

That distinction comes first.

Identify the last First Horizon screen that worked

The visible page often tells you which type of problem you have.

Last visible screen or messageLikely next step
Enter User ID and Enter PasswordContinue with Digital Banking or use its recovery link
We still need your User IDComplete the required User ID field
We still need your PasswordComplete the required password field
Forgot User ID Or PasswordRecover an existing personal or business profile
Access to this system is temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenanceWait for service restoration
Before you continueUse Digital Banking access for the protected customer form
Small Business service selectorConfirm that the account is a Small Business profile
Corporate service selectorSelect the assigned corporate or investment service

The dedicated First Horizon Digital Banking page displays Enter User ID, Enter Password, Show, and Forgot User ID/Password. When a required entry is missing, the page can show We still need your User ID or We still need your Password.

Those messages are not proof that First Horizon rejected an account. They indicate that the form still needs an entry in the named field.

Read the wording closely. Skip password recovery when the page has not yet received both required entries.

Check for scheduled maintenance before resetting access

First Horizon maintains a page that states: Access to this system is temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance.

That page represents a service condition, not an individual password failure.

When it appears, avoid starting enrollment, changing access details, or repeatedly submitting the login form. Those actions cannot restore a system that has been deliberately taken offline for maintenance.

Use a narrow check:

  1. Confirm that the maintenance message appears on a First Horizon domain.
  2. Close older login tabs.
  3. Return through the bank’s main website later.
  4. Confirm that the normal Digital Banking form has returned.
  5. Use recovery only if access still fails after the service is available.

Priority one: separate availability from account recovery. Skip credential changes while First Horizon is displaying its own maintenance notice.

Maintenance timing and the affected services can vary. An old notice or third-party outage page should not be used to predict when a current interruption will end.

Missing-field messages are not account errors

The direct Digital Banking form performs basic validation before any account recovery decision should be made.

If the User ID field is empty, the page displays We still need your User ID. If the password field is empty, it displays We still need your Password. The same screen provides Forgot User ID/Password for customers who genuinely cannot recall or use an established profile.

This creates two very different situations:

  • Required field left incomplete
  • Existing Digital Banking profile no longer accessible

Do not treat them as the same problem.

A browser password manager may fill only one field, especially after a site, browser, or stored entry has changed. A user can then see a red validation message and assume the stored credential was rejected, even though the other required field was never submitted.

Check both labels first. Skip clearing the browser or starting recovery until the normal form has been completed as intended.

Short check. Big difference.

Enroll only when a User ID does not exist

First Horizon directs customers without a Digital Banking User ID to enroll in online banking. Its enrollment page says the process is completed in about five minutes and lists a debit or ATM card, an account number, and an email address among the items needed to begin.

Enrollment is intended for eligible customers establishing Digital and Mobile Banking access. It is not the recovery route for someone who has already signed in successfully in the past.

Use this decision:

  • Never had a Digital Banking User ID: choose Enroll for access.
  • Previously used Digital Banking: choose Forgot ID or password.
  • Unsure whether enrollment was completed: contact First Horizon before creating another profile.
  • Trying to access Small Business banking: confirm the business account type during enrollment or recovery.
  • Trying to reach a corporate service: use the Corporate login selector instead.

A second enrollment attempt will not necessarily restore an existing profile. Recover the established account first when prior Digital Banking use is confirmed.

Recover personal and business profiles through the right route

The First Horizon recovery page is titled Forgot User ID Or Password. It tells customers who do not yet have a User ID to enroll and publishes 800-511-9160 as the contact number on that recovery service.

The bank’s older Digital Banking user guides describe separate account-type choices for personal and Small Business recovery. The Small Business route begins from Forgot user ID or password?, followed by the business selection.

The distinction matters because an individual may have more than one relationship with First Horizon. A personal Digital Banking profile should not automatically be treated as the identifier for a Small Business or corporate service.

Use recovery in this order:

  1. Start from First Horizon’s login menu.
  2. Select Forgot ID or password.
  3. Choose the account category that matches the affected profile.
  4. Complete the process on the bank’s pages.
  5. Return to a fresh sign-in screen.

Recover one profile at a time. Skip simultaneous changes to personal and business access unless both are independently affected.

Personal, Small Business, and Corporate are separate choices

First Horizon’s personal login page offers access to its banking and investment services through a service selector. The Small Business page is described as the entry point for Small Business Digital Banking and business reporting services. The Corporate page has its own selector and displays User Id is required and Password is required when those entries are missing.

The field names may look similar. The selected service is what matters.

Customer typePage detail to confirm
Personal customerPersonal banking service selected
Small-business customerSmall Business Digital Banking or reporting service selected
Corporate customerAssigned corporate banking, trust, or investment service
New digital userEnroll for access
Existing digital userForgot ID or password

Do this first: read the selected service above the fields. Skip assuming that one First Horizon User ID belongs to every product carrying the bank’s name.

Corporate customers should also avoid using the personal recovery path merely because the field labels look familiar. Their organization may have an assigned corporate service and separate support process.

Why a support request may show “Before you continue”

Some First Horizon customer-service forms require Digital Banking authentication before the request can be completed.

The page is headed Before you continue and states that the form is for customers. It asks for a Digital Banking Username and Password. If either field is empty, it can show Please enter a value for Username or Please enter a value for Password. Customers without Digital Banking credentials are directed to visit a branch or call 800-382-5465.

This is not necessarily another First Horizon account.

The bank is using the existing Digital Banking profile to protect a customer-specific request. Someone who reached this page after selecting a support form should not try a mortgage, corporate, or unrelated investment login.

Use Digital Banking there. Skip creating a new profile simply because authentication appeared midway through the support process.

The broader First Horizon support hub also provides FAQs and customer-service request categories, so a customer who cannot authenticate can return to the published support options rather than forcing the protected form.

Compare website and mobile access

First Horizon says current Digital Banking customers are automatically enrolled for Mobile Banking and should use their existing credentials. Mobile access is available through the bank’s app or a mobile web browser.

The First Horizon Mobile Banking app is offered to personal and Small Business customers. Its published features include viewing balances, depositing checks, paying bills, transferring funds, managing budgets, tracking spending, and setting alerts.

Use the difference between channels as evidence:

  • Website and app both show maintenance: wait for restoration.
  • Website works but app fails: check the current app and its stored session.
  • App works but website fails: reopen the website through the main First Horizon domain.
  • Both reject the same established profile: use Digital Banking recovery.
  • Personal access works but Small Business does not: confirm the business service and profile.

Do not reinstall the app first. Confirm whether the account works through another bank-provided route, then isolate the failing channel.

Corporate mobile access may follow another path. First Horizon’s business mobile page says customers using BusinessConnect or TreasuryConnect sign in with the User ID assigned to that service.

Treat an unfamiliar login event as a security issue

A maintenance message or missing-field validation is a technical access issue. An unfamiliar banking alert, authorization request, or account event is different.

Stop ordinary troubleshooting when activity appears that you did not initiate. Return to First Horizon through the bank’s main website or an established banking contact rather than a link or number contained only in an unexpected message.

Do not approve the unfamiliar action.

First Horizon’s main support hub directs customers to fraud and security resources, FAQs, contact assistance, and customer-service requests.

Priority one is protecting the account. Skip browser experiments or repeated login submissions while suspicious activity is being evaluated through the bank’s published channels.

First Horizon support numbers depend on the task

The Digital Banking login and recovery pages display 800-511-9160 for customer care. First Horizon’s enrollment page and protected customer-form screen publish 800-382-5465 for broader assistance.

Use the number attached to the relevant First Horizon page:

  • Digital Banking login or recovery problem: use the Digital Banking contact.
  • Enrollment assistance: use the enrollment-page route.
  • Protected form without Digital Banking access: call the number shown on that form or visit a branch.
  • Corporate or treasury problem: use support assigned to that service.
  • General banking question: begin at the First Horizon support hub.

When contacting support, identify the exact message or screen. “The bank’s maintenance page appears” is different from “Digital Banking displays We still need your User ID.”

That wording gives support a usable starting point without requiring confidential authentication information.

FDIC status follows the financial product

First Horizon’s personal, Small Business, and Corporate pages state that banking products and services are provided by First Horizon Bank, Member FDIC.

The same login areas may provide routes to trust, investment, annuity, insurance, or wealth-management services. Those products can carry different protections and disclosures.

Read the service label before continuing.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation coverage applies to eligible deposits under applicable rules and ownership categories. A First Horizon-branded login alone does not establish that every linked financial product is an insured deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I start a First Horizon login?

Start at firsthorizon.com and select Log in.

What does “We still need your User ID” mean?

The required User ID field is incomplete.

Does the maintenance page mean my account is locked?

No. First Horizon’s maintenance page says the system is temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. Wait until the normal service returns before deciding that individual account recovery is needed.

Should I enroll again if I forgot my User ID?

Use recovery first. First Horizon directs customers without any User ID to enrollment, while customers with an established profile should use Forgot User ID Or Password.

Can personal and Small Business customers use the mobile app?

Yes. First Horizon’s current app listing says it is available to personal and Small Business customers.

Why does a support form ask for Digital Banking access?

Some customer-specific forms are protected by a Before you continue page. It requests Digital Banking authentication and directs customers without that access to a branch or the published support number.

Is Corporate login the same as personal Digital Banking?

Not necessarily. First Horizon has a separate Corporate login page with its own banking and investment service selector. Use the service assigned to the organization.

Which number appears on the Digital Banking recovery page?

800-511-9160.
